About this object

The table is rectangular and stands on four long straight legs. The top is covered with a slab of variegated red marble and has a brass gallery with openwork around the back and two sides. All sides are decorated with marquetry panels representing diamond shapes each of which contains a quatrefoil. At the top of the front a leather-covered writing pad pulls out. There is one drawer below the writing pad and another one at the right side. The four corners have trompe l'oeil fluting. The legs are plain and taper down to simple brass sabots.
