About this object

The Louis XVI style heart-shaped table is inlaid with marquetry of ribbon draped musical instrument on side door panels. Borders are inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Gilt bronze holly top molding and mounts on shaped legs. Back part of top has gilt bronze gallery. Marjorie Merriweather Post had these made to match her roll-top desk by Roentgen (see 33.222).
