About this object

The circular dos-à-dos is divided into five seats by five arms each arm being above one of the five legs. The center is a decapitated cone on which is an ornament in gilt wood composed of fine acanthus leaves pointing downward and two rows of plumes pointing upward. The arms have each one leaf motif curving upward and one downward. The wooden skirt is shaped, curving inward and outward and is carved with an interlace. Above each of the five short channelled legs is a panel carved with a rosette.
