About this object
The two seated women are figured in a somewhat rough earthenware and decorated with transparent glazes. The figure on the viewer's left is a young, unmarried woman (indicated by her braided, uncovered hair) in a kokoshnik and sarafan. Her blouse is glazed white and her skirt is green. A floral pattern is rendered with heavy strokes. The older woman, on the viewer's right, wears a blue kerchief over her kokoshnik and a green dress. Both hold elaborately folded handkerchiefs in their hands.
