About this object
This small bowl is painted with a wide ocher brown border that contains white oval reserves with gilded flowering branches. An adjacent border consists of gilded geometric shapes and a series of dark red dots. The interior of the bowl features a round reserve with a stylized Columbine flower in ocher brown paint with gilded highlights. Three additional sprays of flowers are painted around the interior of the bowl. A narrow, leafy garland in the same color runs around the perimeter of the bowl.

- maker's mark Large square with arched sides in black overglaze paint; indide the text in Arabic that reads"1271 Allah Done according to the order". Letter "G" is impressed in the body of porcelain; number "3 with small dot " is written in ocher brown overglaze paint; letter in the shape of Latin "Y" in underglaze blue bottom of the bowl According to Betty Djawdan the year 1271 in Persian calendar is the same as the year 1892 in the Western calendar. She also identified stylized flower on the bowl as a Columbine flower, a flower that is widely popular in Persia.
