About this object

The ground is turquoise-blue. The vase is made in six separate sections- foot, body, two handles, neck and cover, molded acanthus leaves cover the bottom of the body and edge the elaborate applied handles, a large painted panel on the front represents Anteus surprising Diana with her nymphs, the neck is fluted, the back has a suspended cluster of flowers sorrounded by foliate scrolls each enclosing a leaping deer. The front panel is signed A. Schilt.
