About this object

In the center of the plate on a white ground is the Russian Imperial eagle in black against a gold ground with a black border and feathering above to the right and left from which hang the chain and badge of the order of Saint Andrew First Called. Above it is the famous Byzantine helmet in the Oruzheinaya Museum in the Moscow Kremlin. This is surmounted with a crown and a partial depiction of the the double headed-eagle topped by a single crown. The border is in royal blue with an elaborate vine scroll in gold.
