About this object
The ground is turquoise-blue. On one side of the vase is a scalloped oval panel painted with a rustic scene of a seated youth playing with a bird and an empty cage in the foreground, bagpipes and a dog at the right, two sheep at the left. On the other side is a panel reserved in white containing a large cluster of flowers in natural color. The body of the vase is covered with profuse gilt floral scrolls. The inside top edge of each vase has a gilt scroll. The part of each vase that fits into the base is covered with gilt caillouté, as is the lowest part of the base.
