About this object
The lip of the bowl is cut in and completely gilded. Affixed to the front of the bowl is a circular white glass medallion with a gilt edge containing the gilded cipher of Alexander I topped by a crown above an inscription in Russian reading: "Paris was taken on March 19, 1814." The body is cut in eight vertical, parallel, deeply cut channels. The stem is faceted in 7 channels. The base is plain.
