About this object
On one side of the conical bowl is engraved a canopy of ermine, supported by two putti. Within this is a bust portrait of Elizabeth I (Elizaveta Petrovna) facing to the right. Her cipher is in a medallion below. On the opposite side is an elaborate cartouche with the imperial double headed eagle and the three crowns. Between the two cartouches are engraved floral sprays. The baluster stem is many sided and comprises a proper knop, inverted baluster knop, and a second proper knop. Foot is decorated with garland of leaves. Engraving is done on the underside rather than on the top. On the edge of the foot are three small, almost parallel lines that may indicate some sort of marking system.
