About this object

The bottle is mold-blown in the form of a bust. The bust depicts the well-known General Mikhail Skobelev (b. Riazan, 1843 and d. Moscow, 1882), the hero of the Russo-Turkish War at age of 39, and subsequently given command of Trans-Caspian Province. Numerous medals can be seen on his uniform, including a Maltese cross worn at the throat. Skobolev's name is visible at the base of the bust and he has the cipher 'A,' presumably for Alexander II whom he served, on his epaulettes.
