About this object
The urn-shaped vase with a flaring neck and a splayed foot stands on a square base. Two raised bands around the shoulder frame an applied ormolu band of vine scrolls and flowerettes. A mask is centered on each side of the vase. The handles are in the shape of two lions' heads in ormolu, and each has a ring suspended from its mouth. A single band of carved stone defines the lower section, which is mounted at the bottom with a row of sharp leaves in ormolu. The square plinth is in gilt bronze.
