The seal is carved in the form of a bust of a bare headed man wearing a frock coat. He has long hair, combed forward over his forehead. He scowls. His coat has a large collar and is buttoned on his right. It features Russian author Ivan Krylov (after an 1839 portrait by Karl Briullov). The pedestal foot is ribbed and the base is oval.
