About this object
The rectangular box is made from thin slabs of malachite which are pierced to form a mosaic, then mounted on a brass background. The box is lined with pink satin and has keyhole in the front. The box is hinged and a thin line of brass can be seen along the join between lid and box. The top is divided into quadrants by the slabs of malachite.
