The round box is composed of thin slabs of malachite which are pierced to form a mosaic. This is mounted onto the box on a background of brass. The lid is separate from the box and a thin edge of the brass is seen around the join of lid and box. The slabs on the bottom of the box are vertical rectangles in shape.
