DEVANT DE CORSAGE BROOCH

Creator(s): Cartier (Jeweler)

About this object

A triangular, devant de corsage-style brooch featuring a total of nineteen pink conch pearls set in platinum and framed by melee diamonds in a bi-leaf motif. Note that five of the six smaller beads at each side angle are coral. Evocative of the art nouveau taste for naturalism with two large flowers composed of the conch pearls and historically linked to the eighteenth-century French fashion for center bodice brooches.
