About this object
Ivory silk damask / moiré garter belt with floral garlands and sprigs of leaves, sewing around the waist with two mother of pearl buttons. The inside of the garter belt is lined with cotton. Each garter (x4) hangs from a metal loop attached by a silk ribbon to the belt. The garters are made of 1 ¼” ruched ivory silk ribbon. Metal clasps are stamped with a fleur de lies allowing for adjustment on all four straps. The ends of the garters are two part metal slide clasps. Clasps are stamped: “Lindsay,” “Pat. July 2, 95,” “August 8, 93,” and “Flexible Felt.” “Patent May 8, 1898” is stamped on the bottom of clasp.
