About this object
Folding fan consisting of blond tortoiseshell sticks and guards. The obverse guard has a metal attachment—“Marie” inset with diamond chips. The leaf reverse is cream leather, while the obverse is a cream paper with hand painted water color flowers. The head of the fan has a metal pivot and washer filled with tortoiseshell to match the sticks and guards. (14 sticks and 2 guards). Leaf painted by-Madeleine Lemaire (French, 1845-1928)
