About this object

Inverted saucer shaped (unfurled) umbrella with black nylon cover and white machine-made lace trim. The 20.5 cm wide lace is hand-stitched to the ten ribs on the interior of the cover at the top notch. Another length of the white lace is hand-stitched to ribs on the interior at the border of the cover. The edges of the cover have a 3mm wide ribbed pattern with the word “NYLTEST” woven at 2.5 cm intervals. Brass ferrule, open cap adhered with a brass tack, and tip cup. Steel tube, ribs, stretchers, top/ bottom springs. White plastic runner is covered with a black nylon rosette. The crook handle is covered in black leather. A leather strap is tied above the handle with a loop knot; a brass bead is tied to the end of the leather strap. A 6 cm ruched black nylon slip-on band trimmed across the center in white lace serves as a tie.
