About this object
A crescent shaped head piece covered in five (5) 3” deep fold-over pleats in brown synthetic horse hair, finished at the lower edge with silk netting. Two sprays of egret feathers ornament the head piece, one on the front, slightly arches and sweeps to the left (facing). A second cluster begins under the back and to the left, sweeping up and to the right. The cluster of feathers in the front is darker and highly reflective, where the back cluster is made of lighter and softer feathers, fading to buff color. Each cluster is finished at the base with a small amount of brown chicken feathers. The arrangement is attached to a metal crescent shaped head piece. Either side terminates with a small loop of brown velvet ribbon to secure the hat with pins
