About this object

Gilt cross pattée enameled dark red outlined black with gilt crossed swords passing through central medallion. Obverse contains a crowned ermine mantle (hand painted over black enamel) with script S (instead of GB) in the center. Reverse has date of order's founding in gilt on black enamel (should be 22 September 1782) misspelled in this case. Cross is suspended from a gilt loop with a section of St. Vladimir ribbon.
