About this object
The medal is enclosed in a box frame and covered with glass. It is suspended from a ribbon that is striped green, white and red. It is a Maltese cross and each arm is tipped with two gilt beads flanking a gilt fan-like motif. It is covered with dark red enamel outlined in gilt. In the center is a gilt medallion with a view of a coliseum containing faces with a distant view of the city, and is inscribed below. Suspended from the lower arm is a shaped plaque with words on a green enamel ground.
