About this object

Obverse: gold cross pattée with dark red enameled arms between which are gold imperial eagles with upswept wings. Central gold rimmed medallion in enamel shows St. Alexander Nevsky wearing a flowing red cape mounted on a rearing white horse. Hand of the Lord extended in blessing emerges from the upper edge. Reverse is the same except for the central medallion which is white with the twin entwined initials: SA surmounted by a flowing red band and a red and yellow imperial crown. Badge is attached by a gold double loop to the bow end of a red moire ribbon sash 10 cm in width and with a saw tooth edge.
