About this object
The shape of the clock is that of a semi-circle. The entire outer surface is engraved with leaf scrolls and other patterns. There is a piece of malachite on the cover. This lifts up and shows places for winding. The sections are labeled in English, "Days of the Week" and "Days of Month". This is all in silver and elaborately engraved with scrolls, and a vase with flowers. The frame for the clock is entirely engraved with scrolls and set with one piece of malachite. On the base there is a button in the front and when it is pressed once the back lifts up and shows a pen and thermometer. The pen is gilt bronze and entirely engraved and with a piece of malachite at the end. The cover for this is engraved and set with two pieces of malachite. When the button is pressed a second time, a lid opens to show an inkwell. On either side of this is a gilt bronze and malachite lid which opens and shows places for stamps or pen nibs. At the right side of the base is a knob which pulls out a drawer which contains a key for the clock.
