About this object
The main portion of the round base of the thermometer is made from lazurite to which is attached four feet made in gilt bronze with leaf and fruit motifs. On the top is a gilt bronze holder for the thermometer with two sphinx like motifs and various leaf motifs to support the thermometer. On top of the thermometer is a globe on which sits an eagle with spread wings.
