About this object
Covers of urns can be reversed to form receptacles for solid perfume to be burned. This shape is called a cassolette or brûle-parfum, a brazier. Urns are in red marble decorated with bronze swags, supported by tripods resting on a circular marble base, with an openwork metal vine scroll within a recess.
