About this object
This piece is architectural in design, with columns supporting arches around the lower half of the tankard. Within each archway appears a panel of floral ornament in filigree enamel colored in predominant shades of blue with accents in olive green, red, white, and pink. on the upper half the floral design is raised above a stippled and gilded surface and enclosed in filigree wires.Lower edge has a border of interlaces in filigree enamel of two shades of blue. Around the upper edge is a rope pattern in gilt wire. Handle has a scale design in filigree enamel in turquoise and blue. Cover has a scale design in filigree enamel in pale blue and green. Next a border of plique a jour enamel with birds, leaves and rosettes in rise, red, white, blue and turquoise. Center has a double headed eagle in plique a jour enamel in red. Bottom of tankard is a double headed eagle in red with leaves and rosettes in blue, turquoise and white, all in plique a jour enamel.
