About this object

Handle is flat with a wheel like shape at the end and turning where the handle and bowl come together. Front of the handle has decorative motifs in filigree enamel, turquoise, red, white and black on a stippled ground. Edge is a rope pattern. In center of wheel is a blank space for a monogram. Back has similar decoration but a star like decoration in enamel filling the center of the wheel. back of bowl has in the center filigree enamel scrolls, red, white and dark blue, on a stippled ground. Border has turquoise ground with motifs in blue, white, red.

Signature marks:
MARK on handle: St. George and the Dragon, 88, VP in Cyrillic for unknown essayer in 1883-1886 /1883, Khlebnikov in Cyrillic (first letter is obscure); lower part of the handle: Austro-Hungarian import mark for 1872-1901 Khlebnikov firm received Imperial Warrant in 1881, but double headed eagle is missing from this piece. However, it may be simply not clearly visible or did not stamped clearly since the marks were applyed on the top of the enamel.
