About this object
The background is in a pale yellow color with lattice and dots in raised white enamel. Each of the two sections have two cartouches painted in full colors. On the lower section Mercury bringing shield with the Medusa's head to Perseus, a classical scene. On the upper part Minerva seated in a landscape near an urn, Jupiter with his thunderbolts seated near a ruin. On the top of the cover, Mercury flying through the air. On the inside are four fittings, three others are missing.
