About this object
The etui is of irregular shape, with molded decoration emphasized by gilt raised scrolls and a lattice of . The background is in white enamel with a lattice in raised white enamel. The front and back have each a cartouche with an elaborate frame in light blue with raised gilt scrolls. On one side Mercury painting, and on the other, Minerva. The lid is painted with a pair of white nesting doves, and Cupid holding a burning heart respectively. The gilt hinge is finely chased. There were five gilt fittings inside, three are missing.
