About this object

The half-length figure of St. Antipas is shown frontally, his right hand raised in blessing, his left clutching a closed book. He wears a richly ornamented sakkos with an omophorion. A plain halo frames his helmet of thick curls and a long pointed beard falls onto his chest. In three medallions above his head are Christ Not Made by Hands, the Mother of God, and John the Baptist representing the Deesis. The background is filled with a floral decoration and the border has a vine rinceau meeting in a rosette at bottom center. Touches of dark blue and white enamel in background. There is a blind knop on the upper edge.
