About this object
In this small metal icon of the Smolensk Mother of God, both figures are distinguished by the plain metal tsatas around their necks. The icon itself has its own rope-pattern border and may have been framed at a later date in its present match-box shaped frame with a small suspension hook soldered on the top. The front is ornamented with small, irregularly formed filigree circles with traces of sea-green enamel on the front, the back with a six-petaled flower in the center and a border of round "pearls" in lime green, blue, and moss green enamel.
