About this object
Around the cup is an all over arabesque of leaves and flowers in niello on silver, against a stippled gilt ground. On front is a medallion with a military scene. A mounted officer holds a spyglass to his eye, possibly to have a view of a sailing ship on the sea, and coming from the left are his troops. Scene is in niello on silver against a gilt stippled ground. Handle and leaves are decorated in rococo manner with flowers, leaves and scrolls.
