The cover is decorated with two oval medallions each with a view of a town in niello on a stippled gilt ground. On lower half are two more ovals, one on the front the other on the back, each containing a monogram on a stippled gilt ground. Background is nielloed in vertical straight and wavy lines. On the sides small cartouches with niello flowers.
