About this object
The vase has four rows of three each of inset silver coins with emperors and empresses from the time of Peter the Great to that of Alexander III. Between these rows of coins are repoussé acanthus-like leaf decoration, two ending with fruit and two with blossoms. Underneath the lip is the Russian imperial eagle in low relief, probably indicating this vase was an imperial order/gift.
