About this object
The handle is engraved to resemble watered silk. It is enamelled all over in a translucent blue. In the top is set a faceted square amethyst. On each side is a swag of laurel leaves in silver gilt. Swags are gathered in two silver gilt bows. Around the base is a row of leaves in silver bordered in silver gilt.
