About this object
The face of the clock is numbered in black and has two fine arms in red gold. It is set within a narrow frame in red gold set with seed pearls and with an outer border in white enamel. Beyond this is a wide border in pale blue enamel engraved with a guilloche pattern of a sunburst over concentric circles rendered in s-shaped waves. Affixed to this at the top is a flowered swag in white, green, and yellow gold hanging from a bowknot in red gold set with a rose cut diamond. At the base two leafy branches in red, white, and green gold are joined with a smaller bowknot in red gold, also set with a rose cut diamond. Next is a narrow border of beading in red gold outlined in white enamel on the inner and outer edges. Beyond this is a border of salmon-pink enamel and a ground engraved to in a diamond pattern. Affixed to this is a sinuous leafy vine in green gold. This is a separated from the final, outer border by a thin band of white enamel. The last border is a pattern of acanthus leaves in yellow gold. The back is covered with ivory, except in the center where the silver gilt cover over the works is visible. The clock stands on silver gilt legs shaped like a circle with two curving feet.
