About this object
The vanity case is rectangular. It is covered all over with narrow white enamel stripes on gold. On the front is a rectangular plaque with cut off corners bordered with small diamonds. This contains a monogram in diamonds on a blue enamel ground. At the top and bottom of both the front and back is a band of leaves in diamonds with three small cabochon sapphires. At the top is a scalloped loop with blue enamel through which passes a chain of platinum with diamonds and sapphires. At the top is a thumb piece with a sapphire for a lever to pull out the fitted interior. Inside is a gold lid, which contains two round depressions. This lifts up to reveal a mirrored compartment for powder and a lipstick holder. On the top at the side is a small sapphire with a knob to pull out an ivory toothpick.
