About this object
On a dark blue background, figures, landscapes, etc. in gold with the details engraved. Pseudo-classical costumed figures in gold, probably from classical legends. On one side of the cup a warrior walking with a woman has his hand raised with an arrow ready to pierce her heart while Cupid walks beside her. On the opposite side of the cup a man and a woman are seated on a rock while another man approaching speaks to them. The cover has Cupid comforting a woman in one scene and Diana seated amongst her stags in the other. The saucer has five groups showing women whose hearts have been pierced by Cupid's arrows.
