Grace Kelly lies on her side in a bed, wearing a key-lime colored skirt suit, while James Stuart wears pajamas and sits in a wheelchair due to a leg injuryRecuperating from a broken leg and confined to his apartment, photographer “Jeff” Jeffries (James Stuart) passes time by shamelessly keeping an eye on his neighbors. Often visited by his partner, fashion designer Lisa Fremont (Grace Kelly), and nurse Stella (Thelma Ritter), Jeff believes he has witnessed a murder.

As fashion historian Kristina Hauland notes, Rear Window is Kelly’s first performance as a career woman, and Hitchcock highlights her elegance through incredible fashions including an iconic evening dress, a sheer negligee over a sleek nightgown, a full-skirted floral dress, and a casual pair of jeans.
Painstakingly restored frame-by-frame in 2000, Rear Window is one of the American Film Institute’s Best 100 Films.
