About this object

The birds are carved in jade which is pea green and brown. In each figurine there is a larger male bird cut in the brown color and with a very long wavy tail. He stands on top of a branch also in the darker color. He has a comb on top of his head and his beak is open. His wings are elaborately carved as well. The female bird is smaller and carved in the pea green color. This bird has a long tail, but is less elaborate than the mate. She sits on the lower branch of the tree. The tree has a wide base and knots in the trunk. The four legged wooden bases are carved like roots of trees.
