About this object

The frame is carved from pale jade. The carved designs include a vase at the top and sprays of leaves along the side and bottom. The jade is held in a frame of silvered wood. The frame contains a sepia-tone photograph mounted on cardboard of a three-quarter portrait of Eleanor Post Close, ca. 1940. She wears a strapless, light-colored evening gown and holds a dark velvet cape with a light-colored lining around her shoulders.

The frame is carved from pale jade. The frame is rectangular and the top edge is slightly curved. The carved designs include a vase at the top and sprays of leaves along the side and bottom. The jade is held in a frame of silvered wood. The frame contains a sepia-tone photograph mounted on cardboard of a three-quarter portrait of Eleanor Close, ca. 1940, seated and wearing a strapless, light-colored evening gown. She holds a dark velvet cape with a light-colored lining around her shoulders. The original portrait painted in 1939 is by Salisbury (private collection).
