About this object

Transparent, champagne colored robe with overlapping front closure. The base of the garment is silk organza overlaid with tulle with an overall cotton embroidery in a fern pattern interspersed with small floral motifs. The long, bell-shaped sleeves are also overlaid with tulle which is gathered up at the top edge of the sleeves and decorated with the embroidered fern pattern. The garment is finished with a silk satin band which has a decorative, cut inner edge. This band is also used to edge the long, square train. A ribbon with metal weights is inserted in this band along the bottom edge of the train. A tie belt in the same silk stain is attached at side seams.
