Mrs. Post wore this dress for her wedding to E.F. Hutton on July 7, 1920. Now faded, the dress was originally lavender or periwinkle organza. The bodice is built on a single body organza shell trimmed with lace and satin ribbon. The short sleeved overbodice overlaps slightly at center front in a deep V shape. The skirt is gathered onto the bodice at the natural waist. A wide waist sash closes at center back. The skirt and bodice are decorated with blue fabric flowers and leaves and lace bands. The transparent fabric, insets of banded lace, asymmetrical closure and organic, vinelike decorations are typical of "Lucile" gowns.
