EVENING DRESS

About this object

This long, blue velvet evening dress has a closefitting, round neckline that closes at center front with a 24" metal zipper. The front is cut in a modified princess line extending to the hem. The back bodice is also cut in a modified princess line ending at a dropped waist, where a full gathered skirt with slight train is attached. A band of oblong brass studs edged with rhinestones trim the neckline and extend down the center front and around to the back at the dropped waist level, creating the illusion of a jacket. The short sleeves are edged with the same decorative trim. This simulated jacket is embellished overall with rhinestones and small brass studs. Pleated taffeta sleeve bustles extend the shoulder. The garment is unlined.
