A light green silk backing with nine Alencon lace pieces attached. .1 is a piece of Engageants(long, asymmetrical, closely tiered and gathered ruffles especially fashionable in the mid eighteenth century) with a floral pattern filled with branch swags. .2 is an edging which matches .1. There are many fillings in the edge cartouches. .3 is an edging with four large floral sprays aligned lengthwaise with large and three smaller edge cartouches in two groups of fillings in ecru. .4 is an edging with formal arches with framed flowers and scallops in the cartouches. .5 is an edging which matches .4 and has streaky mesh with a possible Burano origin mid 18th century. .6 is an edging ca. 1800 which is sprinkled with small sprigs on a fond simple. There are four fillings in small cartouches. .7 is an edging from the early 19th century with a cruder design of motifs at the edge with few fillings. .8 is an edging which is narrow than .6 and has the same sprig, two fillings and toile in cartouches. .9 is an edging with sprigs and a circle of fillings alternating over a vine pattern edge. The same filling of four picoted circles throughout at edge and above.
