About this object

The attribution to A. i V. Sapozhnikovy is based on the contrasting matt and shiny gold created by mixing twisted and smooth gold-wrapped silk threads. The unlined fabric is decorated with a large, overall floral pattern. The fanciful flowers are outlined in a deep magenta silk. The band is machine-sewn and it is a duller yellow. The lack of lining has contributed to extensive shattering across the textile. It is in extremely poor condition and needs to be stored with extreme care.
