The needelwork scene shows Portsmouth harbor with its Spithead forts. To the left is a promotory with a fort. It is flying the English flag, has a lighthouse and men drilling on the flat esplanade which may be Clarence esplanade. There are two small round forts in the harbor, each flying a British flag, and with a beehive looking design. In the foreground are three sailing ships. The other four ships have their sails furled and may be steam vessels. The sun is in the center and lies low on the water. Above are yellow and pink clouds which surround the sun as if in sunrise or sunset. In an antique wooden frame.
