About this object

The embroidery represents a pictorial scene complete with a frame-like border of roses, etc. In the picture is a man lying stretched out on a chaise lounge in a room, in a palace, his sword in his left hand. A monk in black, with pearls sewn on his cuff, stands in the background pleading with him. At the right is seated a woman with a child beside her and two ladies-in-waiting behind her. A table with ewer and basin stands between the woman and the man on the couch. In the foreground a man dressed in blue, points to two men approaching from the left, while another man holding a vase kneels behind him. A window opens out onto a scene at sunset. This doubtless represents some historical event.
