About this object

The main part of the rectangular frame is made in wood. There are four silver buttons holding the frame together. The silver border is engraved with a ribbon tied leaf design. The central oval for the tinted photograph has a beaded edge. The back is also made in wood with a strut so that the frame can stand up and a ring so that it will hang. The photograph is of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia (1819-1876) (see 56.27).
